What Does a Professional Dog Poop Cleanup Service Include?

A professional dog poop cleanup service handles the routine of searching your yard, collecting pet waste, and bagging it for disposal. Before hiring a company, it helps to know which areas will be checked, where the waste goes, and what you need to arrange before the first visit.

At Get The Scoop, recurring service includes an inspection of accessible pet areas, dog waste pickup, secure bagging, placement in your outdoor trash container, spot deodorizing (included), and a gate check before we leave.

Here is what that looks like when you schedule pet waste removal in Port Charlotte.

A Walk Through the Areas Your Dogs Use

The cleanup starts with looking for waste throughout the accessible areas included in your service.

An open patch of lawn is only part of the picture. Dogs also use fence lines, side yards, landscaping edges, and quiet corners behind outdoor structures. Let us know which areas your dogs use, especially if your property has separate fenced sections or more than one gate.

Walking those areas allows us to check places that are difficult to see from the back door. Taller grass, leaves, and landscaping hide piles from view, even when the yard looks clean from a distance.

If odor remains after a quick pickup, our article on why your backyard still smells like dog poop after cleanup explains how missed waste contributes to the problem.

Dog Waste Pickup, Bagging, and Disposal

After locating the waste, we collect it and securely bag it. The bagged waste goes in your designated outdoor trash container for disposal with your household trash.

Knowing that arrangement ahead of time helps you prepare. Show us which container to use and where it will be available on service day. If you keep it behind another gate or in a separate part of the property, mention that when scheduling.

The waste is removed from the lawn, but it stays in your outdoor trash container until collection. Our service does not include hauling the bags away from your property.

Spot Deodorizing (Included)

Recurring visits include spot deodorizing after the dog waste has been picked up. This targets specific areas needing attention rather than treating the entire yard at every appointment.

Physical cleanup comes first. Deodorizing does not replace finding and removing the piles of waste in the grass.

Review our deodorizing product information and manufacturer Safety Data Sheet before service begins. If you prefer to skip deodorizing, let us know. We will note that preference for your visits.

A Gate Check Before We Leave

We check that the gate is closed before leaving your property.

When setting up service, tell us about any gate or latch that needs particular attention. A latch that sticks or a gate that requires an extra push is useful information to share before the first appointment.

Safe access also needs to be arranged in advance. Let us know about locked entrances, separate enclosures, and anything else that affects getting into the cleanup area.

What Happens During the First Cleanup?

Your first appointment starts with the yard as it is today. Tell us approximately when it was last cleaned and whether waste has accumulated in particular areas.

A yard with several weeks of buildup presents a different starting point from one that was recently picked up. Describing the condition helps us plan the initial visit and understand the areas that need attention.

Your initial cleanup is provided at no charge when you start monthly recurring service with Get The Scoop. This is part of starting recurring service, not a limited-time promotion. Standalone cleanups are quoted separately.

What Do You Need to Do Before a Visit?

You do not need to be home as long as the service area is safely accessible. Before your first appointment:

  • Confirm which areas of the property your dogs use.

  • Arrange access through the necessary gates.

  • Identify the outdoor trash container we should use.

  • Discuss where your dogs will be during the visit so safe access is arranged.

  • Tell us about existing waste buildup or any deodorizing preference.

You do not need to clean up the dog waste before we arrive. That is the work you are scheduling us to do.

Weekly or Twice-Weekly Visits

Get The Scoop offers once-weekly and twice-weekly recurring cleanup. The right schedule depends on how much waste accumulates between visits and how your household uses the yard.

A second weekly visit gives a busy dog area another cleanup during the week. Dogs continue using the yard after each appointment, so picking up individual piles before mowing, outdoor play, or having people over keeps those areas clear between visits.

Our guide to how often to pick up dog poop in Port Charlotte explains the factors to consider when choosing a schedule.
